Safer Internet Session

On February, 2nd two GNR agents came to Básica de Campo de Besteiros school to hold a session for eighth grade
students on “Safer Internet” .

Around 9:15 the two police officers by Escola Segura started the session by introducing themselves. Then they explained the differences between reality and virtual reality and showed a video, some PowerPoint slides and the trailer of a film. After that, they shared guidelines and tips for surfing the Internet safely, highlighted the importance of protecting personal information, identifying misleading content and promoting responsible behaviour when you are online, and they also encouraged students to adopt healthy habits while using the Internet and to look for help from older and more experienced people whenever they have questions or are in uncomfortable or worrying situations. Finally, they reinforced the need of a conscious and responsible digital citizenship in order to promote a conscious and healthy ambience for everyone.

One of the agents concluded “Once on the Net, on the Net forever”.

This session was held with the aim of raising students’ awareness for the topic, as Safer Internet Day is celebrated on 6th February, and is in line with the topic Media, which is being addressed by the 8th E and F Educational Team.
